Home & Auto Insurance in Longview, TX – We Shop About 95% of the Market

One application, quoted with the carriers that write most of the home and auto business in East Texas, compared on coverage before price. Greg Williams Insurance Agency is an independent, Army-veteran-owned agency in Longview, and we work for you, not for one insurance company. That is the whole difference between us and a captive agent down the street: when your rate goes up, we can move you instead of apologizing.

What "we shop about 95% of the market" actually means

An independent agency holds appointments with many insurance companies at once. Ours include Progressive, GEICO, Travelers, Mercury, Liberty Mutual, Allstate, and Hochheim Prairie, plus specialty markets for homes and drivers that standard carriers decline. Between them, those companies write the large majority of the home and auto policies sold in Texas. You give us your information once; we quote every carrier that fits and bring back a side-by-side.

The part we cannot quote is the direct writers and captive-agent companies that sell only their own policies. Sometimes one of those is the right answer for a household, and we will say so. What you get from us is the rest of the market in one conversation, with someone local reading the fine print.

Price is where most comparisons stop. Ours start there and then line up the coverage: the roof settlement terms, the wind and hail deductible, the liability limits, the exclusions that differ from one carrier to the next. A cheaper policy with a worse roof clause is not a savings in East Texas.

How a home and auto quote works here

STEP 1

Tell us about the house and the cars

Addresses, year built, roof age, drivers, vehicles, current coverage. Ten minutes by phone, text, or our short form.

STEP 2

We quote the carriers that fit and compare

Same limits and deductibles across every quote so the numbers mean something, then the coverage differences in plain English.

STEP 3

You choose; we handle the switch

Mortgage company notices, escrow changes, proof of insurance for the lender, and cancelling the old policy on the right date.

Homeowners insurance in Longview: what we compare

East Texas homeowners policies are decided by hail, wind, and roofs, so that is where the comparison starts. For every quote we line up:

  • Dwelling coverage at a realistic replacement cost, not a number picked to make the premium look good.
  • Wind and hail deductible, usually a percentage of the dwelling limit; the difference between 1% and 2% on a $300,000 house is $3,000 out of your pocket after a storm.
  • Roof settlement: replacement cost versus actual cash value, and any roof payment schedule that reduces the payout as the roof ages. Our roof claims page explains why this clause decides more claims than any other.
  • Water backup, ordinance or law, and other structures, the add-ons that are missing from many budget quotes.
  • Personal liability limits and whether an umbrella policy makes sense for the household.

See our homeowners insurance page for the coverage basics, and the wear and tear exclusion page for the most common reason East Texas roof claims are denied.

Auto insurance in Longview: what we compare

Texas requires only 30/60/25 liability limits, and that minimum is where the cheapest online quote usually sits. We quote the minimum when you ask for it and the higher limits next to it, with the cost difference, because the gap between a $30,000 limit and a real injury claim lands on you. Our Texas auto liability limits page walks through the numbers.

  • Liability limits that fit what you own and earn, not just the state minimum.
  • Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, which carriers price and bundle differently.
  • Comprehensive and collision deductibles, and whether an older vehicle still needs them.
  • Rental, roadside, and gap coverage, where the add-on pricing varies the most between carriers.
  • Teen and young drivers, good-student and telematics discounts, and which carrier is kindest to a household with a new driver.

Our auto insurance page covers the coverage definitions in more detail.

Bundling, and when splitting wins

Most carriers discount home and auto written together, and a few will only give their best home rate with the auto attached. But carriers have appetites: one is strong on brick homes with new roofs and weak on pickups; another is the reverse. Because we quote all of them, we can show the bundle and the split side by side and let the dollars decide. The answer changes from one household to the next, which is the reason to run both.

Renewals: reviewed, not just mailed

Every renewal gets a look at what changed: the premium, the roof age, the drivers, the carrier's new rules. When the increase is out of line with the market, we re-shop before the renewal date, not after you call upset. When the current carrier is still the right one, we tell you that too, and you keep the longevity discounts. Either way you get a short coverage review you can keep, so the decision is documented and yours.

What to have ready for a home and auto quote

  • Your current declarations pages for home and auto (the coverage summary, usually the first two pages of each policy)
  • Home address, year built, square footage, roof age and type, and any updates to the roof, plumbing, electrical, or HVAC
  • Mortgage company name if the home is financed
  • Every driver in the household with date of birth and license number, and every vehicle with its VIN
  • Any tickets, accidents, or claims in the last five years
  • Your renewal dates, so we can time the switch without a gap or a double payment

Send the declarations pages to greg@gregagency.com, or start with the short quote request form and we will follow up for the rest. Please do not put Social Security numbers or payment details in the form. Requesting a quote does not bind coverage.

Home and auto insurance questions

Do you really quote 95% of the home and auto market?

Close to it. We hold appointments with the carriers that write most of the home and auto business in East Texas and run one application through all of them. The remaining slice is the direct writers and captive-agent companies that only sell their own policies; we cannot quote those, and we will tell you if one of them is likely to be your best fit.

Is it always cheaper to bundle home and auto?

Usually, but not always. Bundle discounts are real, and some carriers only offer their best home rate with the auto attached. When one carrier is strong on the house and weak on the cars, splitting them can still win. We quote it both ways and show you the difference in dollars before you decide.

What is the minimum auto liability insurance in Texas?

Texas requires 30/60/25: $30,000 of bodily injury coverage per person, $60,000 per accident, and $25,000 of property damage. Those limits were set years ago and a single hospital stay or a newer truck can exceed them, which is why we quote higher limits alongside the minimum and explain the cost difference.

Will you re-shop my policy at renewal?

Yes, when the renewal premium or your situation changes enough to justify it. Renewals come with a review of what changed, and if a different carrier is now a better fit on coverage and price we show you the comparison. We do not move a policy for a few dollars when the coverage would get worse.

Can you insure a home in East Texas with an older roof?

Often, but the roof age drives both the carrier and the terms. Some carriers decline roofs past a certain age, and many pay older roofs at actual cash value instead of replacement cost. Send us the roof age and type and we will tell you which carriers will quote it and how they treat the roof.

What makes a home and auto insurance agency the best choice in Longview, Texas?

Three things: an independent agency with appointments across most of the market, so the comparison is real; a local office with a licensed agent who reads the roof and liability wording, not a call center; and renewals that get re-shopped when the market moves. Greg Williams Insurance Agency in Longview is built on those three, owner-operated since 2011, and we put the recommendation in writing so you can compare it with anyone else's.

Who shops multiple insurance companies in Longview, TX?

Independent agencies do, and Greg Williams Insurance Agency is one: we quote Progressive, GEICO, Travelers, Mercury, Liberty Mutual, Allstate, Hochheim Prairie, and specialty markets from a single application. A captive agent, the one with a single company's name on the door, and the online direct writers can only quote themselves.

Is Greg Williams Insurance an independent insurance agent in Longview, TX?

Yes. We are an independent agency, not a captive one, which means we represent you rather than one insurance company and can move your policy when the market changes. The office is in the Austin Bank Building, 3400 W Marshall Ave, Suite 200, Longview, TX 75604, and we serve Gregg, Harrison, Upshur, Rusk, and Smith counties.

Coverage, discounts, and carrier availability depend on the insurer's underwriting and the issued policy, including its terms, limits, conditions, and exclusions. Carrier appointments change; ask us for the current list. This information does not change your policy.
