Longview Great Pumpkin Roll: A Fall Tradition
A pumpkin, a hill, and a little friendly competition: the Longview Great Pumpkin Roll puts a distinctly local spin on fall. For East Texas families, it is a reminder that a memorable community tradition does not need to be complicated.
2026 timing note: The advertised event window was Saturday, October 3, from 3–6 p.m. That window has passed. This is a community spotlight, not an invitation to an upcoming 2026 event.
What makes the Great Pumpkin Roll different?
Visit Longview connects the event with Rock Hill and the story of Longview’s name. The 2026 listing placed the activity at 420 N. Center Street in downtown Longview, with competitors rolling pumpkins for distance and target prizes.
The published details listed a $2 charge per roll, with pumpkins separate. Participants could bring one or buy from a limited supply. The longest-roll grand prize was advertised as $500. Those are 2026 details; future dates, prices, and rules may change.
Where to find updates and photos
The official Great Pumpkin Roll page links to standings and an event photo gallery. Use that page for results and future announcements. We have not independently verified the final standings or announced a date for the next edition.
Make the next downtown outing easy
For a future visit, save the organizer’s page before leaving home, check the weather, and choose a meeting point with your group. Wear shoes that work for hills and sidewalks, keep small children with an adult, and follow the marked spectator areas and event staff’s directions.
If you plan to browse nearby businesses, leave room in your day for an unhurried stop. Ask shops about their hours instead of assuming they match the event schedule. A short local outing can be an easy way to discover a business you have driven past for years.
