The Henderson Heritage Syrup Festival 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. It is an opportunity to explore an East Texas tradition, watch people work with older tools, and spend a fall day around Henderson’s historic downtown.
Two places to include in your plan
The City of Henderson’s official festival page lists two useful destinations: the Depot Museum at 514 N. High Street and historic downtown at 100 E. Main Street.
Syrup-making demonstrations at the museum use antique mule-powered equipment. The city also describes traditional craft demonstrations, food, music, and downtown arts-and-crafts booths. Plan time for both areas rather than assuming all activities are at the same address.
Watch the process, not just the finished product
A demonstration gives families a chance to slow down and ask how an everyday food was made before modern equipment. For children, suggest one question to listen for: What powers the equipment? What job takes the most time? How does the maker know when the syrup is ready?
Give demonstrators room to work and follow any barriers or instructions. If you hope to purchase syrup or handmade items, leave room in your bag and ask vendors how best to carry your purchases.
Getting around on festival day
The city lists free parking at the Municipal Services Complex, 300 W. Main Street, and hayride shuttles between the museum and downtown. Confirm current shuttle charges, museum admission, accessibility, and availability before traveling. The festival page contains some older street-closure wording, so follow current city notices and posted directions.
Wear shoes suitable for a day of walking.
Check the forecast and bring an extra layer if needed.
Save both destination addresses and a photo of where you parked.
Set a meeting place with your group and allow time for breaks.
